What is your role here at A&P?
My job role is Digital Marketing Assistant which involves planning and organising digital marketing campaigns and creating content for use on various online platforms.
What is your background?
I am originally from Lytham St Annes and I moved over to Preston to live with my husband and to study marketing at the University of Central Lancashire. My degree was over 4 years, which included a year in industry, where I worked in both food retail marketing and education marketing. I graduated in 2018 with 1st Class Honours and a huge baby bump! I also completed the UCLan LaunchPad Leadership Programme and gained CMI and IDM certifications. Since leaving university, I have had my baby and enjoyed my maternity leave, but I am happy to now be part of the team at A&P.
How has your first month at A&P been?
My first month at A&P has been fab! Everyone here is so welcoming and friendly, so I felt at home right from the start. I am looking forward to getting stuck into lots of new projects and being part of the creative processes involved in these.
List 3 positives of your time here so far…
- Meeting Emily who has taken me under her wing and shown me how everything is done has been great because it’s helped me to settle nicely into my new role.
- I’ve also found the induction sessions with the various departments to be really useful. I’ve been able to meet lots of new people and find out what they do to make A&P amazing.
- The job role itself is a big positive for me as I have worked in marketing previously but now, I am able to learn more about digital marketing which I find very interesting.
What do you love about what you do?
I absolutely love writing, so creating blog posts and content is something I really enjoy doing in my role. I also enjoy how creative marketing is and how each day brings something new depending on a client’s needs.
What is your favourite brand to follow on social media?
I love following fashion brands and influencers on Instagram to see the latest (sometimes ridiculous) trends. My favourite brand to follow is probably Nike because I love their trainers, sportswear and the motivational ‘can-do’ attitude behind their content.
What do you like to do outside of work/Do you have any hobbies?
I love spending time with my family and friends, going on walks and playing hockey. I started playing hockey when I was 6 years old and I’ve never looked back. It’s such a fun way to exercise, it’s fast-paced and helps me to de-stress. The only downside is that it’s quite a dangerous sport and there are always injuries happening, but I’ve only ever had a fractured eye socket, so I think I’ve done quite well!
If you could have any superpower what would it be?
If I could have a superpower, I think it would be the ability to eat whatever I want and not put any weight on. I love going out for meals with friends, but we always eat way too much, so this superpower would be great for keeping the carbs at bay.
Do you have a favourite phrase/mantra you live by?
When I’m getting stressed out and feeling like I’ve got too much to sort out, I think about a phrase that my dad always says to me: “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”. This always helps me realise not to take things so seriously and to try and enjoy every moment.
